Sit down interview with Pac from ’94
New Orleans rapper, Truth Universal has been a main stay in The Big Easy for more than a decade. In October he released Invent The Future, a collection of classic boom bap style tracks. He reminds me of an updated J Sands (Lone Catalyst), not necessarily in imitation but in the way they both flow over tracks coupled with positive and uplifting lyrical content. “Motivated” is a great representation of the project. Sybil Shanel brings it all together vocally on the hook, giving the track a great nod factor and gettin’ down potential….
Here is a closer look at the Nike SB collaboration with CONCEPTS. I still can’t mess with the shoes but the accessories are hot. I wish they would have done an actual sweater though……BAWSE…No vision…..The boxes are classic though. They go on sale this Saturday and you can try and can attempt to get a pair online starting at 12:00pm EST by clicking here. Be the envy of all the people at your Christmas party……
Ever since I first heard New Sacred Cow I have been a fan of Kenna. Not only as a musician, but as a human being. The dude is talented and does some great work. That culminated back a couple years ago when his friend, Justin Timberlake hired him to assist in the relaunching of Myspace.com. I believe he hold a some sort of vision title over there. Thankfully his new position has not kept him from making music. THis track is from a series he’s doing the project is Land 2 Air Chronicles II: Imitation Is Suicide – Chapter 3, check out his SoundCloud page for more info on the Land 2 Air Chronicles.

U.G.K. – It’s Supposed To Bubble “It’s Dom Perignon it’s supposed to bubble”
Today’s videos are dedicated to Chad Butler known to the world as Pimp C, 1/2 of the Port Arthur, TX duo Underground Kingz. The Pimp passed away 7 years ago today in Los Angeles, CA. It would be impossible to find anyone in the industry who didn’t respect C. And I dare you to find me a southern rapper that he did not influence. Even those who caught the wrath of Pimp C (see Young Jeezy), knew what time it was. Mostly, Butler was about helping people come up. He wold often share his knowledge of the game with anyone who wanted to hear it. He spent more time building that destroying that for sure. He would work with unknown acts just as soon as he’d work with Jay-Z or Too $hort. He was also quick to speak his mind if you were out of pocket though. “Get mad at the Pimp” watch the interview below and get a history lesson from Pimp.
