The B.U.M.S. or Brothas Unda Madness was a group out of Oakland, California. Evocalist and D. Wize’s 1995 release Lyfe-N-Tyme, was incredible. Supported and Executive Produced by Sway & King Tech, the group might go against what you know about Bay Area rap music, unless of course you understand that the Bay is a serious pool of talented musician. Unfortunately Priority Records did not give it the push it deserved and it would serve as the only release from duo. “Elevation” produced by Joe Quixx (Oakland Faders), the original DJ for Sway and Tech’s “World Famous Wake Up Show”, was the first single from the album. The Teddy Pendergrass sample made it an instant classic for heads. The entire album is dope, as the second single “Take A Look Around” would show. There was even a DOPE as heck Fred Wreck remix of the latter on the 12″, check it out below. The B.U.M.S. Lyfe-N-Tyme just helps to solidify the Yay as an area where the musical roots which run deep and have grown into branches as fruitful as they are diverse.
