“Yeah I know what love is, and it just don’t stop. But I can explain it better when I say what love’s not”
Mars Ill is a Atlanta based duo comprised of ManChild (Emcee) and DJ Dust (DJ/Producer). Their debut album Raw Material originally was dropped on Sphere of Hip Hop records in 1998 and re-released in 2002 by Uprok Records. This album gained notoriety in the hip-hop world for it’s classical boom-bap production and witty soul filled lyrical content. ManChild and DJ Dust have been heavily involved in the Hip-Hop scene in Atlanta. They both also belong to the Deep Space 5 collective. “Love’s Not” is an ode to things which break people away from God’s intention for us. Manchild speaks truth to life over the smoothed out production and Rahlo (BlackSoil Project) offers up an excellent guest appearance. Also, below check out “Mona Lisa” from the Sound Methods album, featuring the late Jax (Binkis Recs) as well as Playdough and Lil Sci (John Robinson, from Scienz of Life).
