“Talking About A Revolution” was the second single from Tracy Chapman’s self titled album. While it didn’t see the success that “Fast Car” did, it went on to be covered by several artists and became a regular performance during live shows by Living Colour. It seems very appropriate to me today of all days as the city of Jackson is still in shock and disbelief regarding the passing of mayor Chokwe Lumumba. I sincerely hope that his passing has no long term effects on the city. He was a man with a vision, that vision does not pass on to the next life with the man. It lives on, it awaits the courage of the next person to stand up and take hold of the vision. Ultimately the responsibility falls to the people. Refuse to let the Mr Chokwe’s life be in vain, pick up his torch and march on. Be the brighter future for yourself and your city that you envisioned with him at the helm. Your voice matters and it can be heard.
