This comes from Shuggie’s debut album Here Comes…. which I picked up this weekend at 4TheRecord, Mississippi’s premier record convention. It was released on Epic Records when Shuggie was but 17 years old. Of course having a father like Johnny Otis doesn’t hurt things. Getting the co-sign from B.B. King shortly after the release of the album and working, via his dad’s radio program, with the likes of Frank Zappa, Etta James, Bobby “Blue” Bland, and many others helped to cement Shuggie’s growing legacy. He only released two more albums on Epic Records and after a couple questionable career choices he turned to playing studio sessions. He can still be caught out on tour and in 2013 he re-released his last album for Epic Records Inspiration Information which came with Wings Of Love a collection of previously written and unreleased material from 1975 and on.
