Self Jupiter (Freestyle Fellowship) & Kenny Segal (Team Supreme/HellFyre Club) are known collectively as The Kleenrz and they create great music. Jupiter is a seasoned veteran who can rhyme over anything with a beat and teaming up with Kenny Segal has brought out some of the best in the Project Blowed OG. L.P. coming soon. This is Los Angeles hip-hop music.
Stanley Ipkuss and Ewonee Thee Beatnik combine forces to give us a track one part jazz and one part rap. Taken from .Indefinite, dropping on May 12th, “Wrapps” sounds like it’s from somewhere in the late 90s when there was classic and timeless music being made. Ipkuss’ laid back and melodic style mixes with Ewonee’s lo-fi sound.
California rapper Locksmith dropped his latest album A Thousand Cuts on April 15th and it has certainly made a slap in the Hip-Hop world. “Hardest Song Ever” features Leah Tysse and is an ode to personal reflection and growth. Lock dives in to what one can only imagine is a crazy situation that happened to him as a child. Openly personal, Lock acknowledges not only the situation but the truth about dealing with it still today. This theme shows up through out the album, I highly recommend the album for fans of hip-hop. It features contributions from R.A. The Ruggesd Man, Jarell Perry, Rebecca Nobel, Fallon, Anesha, and Olamide Faison. Production was provided by Nova K, Braden Blair, and Rsonist.
Locksmith says “If my personal story can help any other person that is suffering, then I have truly accomplished something special.”
On 2005’s Disappear Here, the L.A. Symphony crew released their second project on Gotee Records. The man single from the album “Timeless” features DJ Rhettmatic on the cuts and production from Evidence of Dilated Peoples. Personal turmoil and a changing industry lead to an extended hiatus from the group as members concentrated on solo efforts. They dropped a mixtape Unleashed, via Syntax Records, a couple years later but this served as a reminder to fans as to what was not necessarily what is. All members have gone on to produce some excellent projects and continue to work together, leaving room for an eventual reunion. Pigeon John’s recent release Encino Man, features various members of the crew.
