Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K. bring some funk for your summer afternoon trips to the mall, gym, Oreo cookie shake spot, or back to work after a well deserved 15 minute lunch break. “Just Another Day” is a brilliantly fun and soulful track which shall be featured on their Pencils Not Pistols:Releaded. The album is an extended version of their E.P. released just last year via Illect Recordings. The reissue will feature appearances from Sivion, Sareem Poems, and James Gardin and is sure to attempt to break a neck or two. The brilliance of the track is that I know for a fact the sun has only shined like thrice in the UK in the past quarter century, yet they capture the feeling so well. Kudos fellas, Kudos………

You cats need to get your bars up and your cake up. Canadian born producer and emcee Matt Brevner has upped the ante. Shooting through out space and also on the moon must have been expensive but worth it. He brings along fellow Canuck, Tom MacDonald, on the trip to keep him company and man the space probe whilst Matt tramps around on the moon looking for what I can only assume is cheese or Andy Kaufman. The track is featured on Brevner’s The Bushido Project, which can be purchased by clicking the link below and donating some of your hard earned cash.
Eli Saf’s “L.E.S.”, produced by Rashaun, got the attention and support of Elliot Wilson and Respect Magazine, we will not hold that against him though. The track is melodic and smooth like a sunny afternoon with a pocketful of cash, an up to date metro card, and nowhere in particular to be. Think about it. Sheesh. Enjoy.
There are times when you can hear something from new cats that might transcend the content of the track you are listening to. “Flight Status Check” brings little to the table conceptually. This is not an attempt to take anything away from the combo of Adverse and Pehchriq in all sincerity. The talent is obviously there. The production from Lonedome is on point and the emcee duo ride the beat effortlessly and without flaw. Their vocal tones work well with the track and one another. I look forward to hearing what else these guys have in store for us. Maybe I’m just being a bit old fashioned when I say that I want to hear something other than the standing rap music status quo. Maybe you feel like I’m being a hater, or maybe I feel like I’m being honest.
Nas added Fashawn to his Mass Appeal imprint label officially and to celebrate Fash drops his version of a CLASSIC. “CA State Of Mind” is an excellent display of what Nas saw in the Fresno native. We’ve seen it for years, since before Fashawn dropped Boy Meets World. Looking forward to homie having some strong backing.
