Providing the perfect mix of funk and jazz and creating a beautifully crafted nu jazz feel for the title track from Gregory’s Grammy Award winning album. There is no real wrong doing
Drums….drums can make or break a track. When Stro Elliot, producer for The Procussions, remixes a track there is always one constant, THE DRUMS ARE BANGING. This is as sure as the sun rising in the east and setting out west. Mackenzie is an up and coming vocalist from Los Angeles, CA. He voice is nearly flawless, his song writing is on point. Together the two take us on a trip through the cosmos on the back of a Luck Dragon. The milky way is the backdrop and aurora borealis tour guide. Enjoy.

Okay people, let’s get this out of the way real quick. This song is not going to die. It will be around forever, ever. Forever, ever? Forever Ever! Pharrell knew exactly what he was doing with “Happy” and has indeed created a movement. It has received MULTIPLE mixes, from all over the world, people have even made their own videos, which brought Skateboard P to tears on the Oprah show by the way. I’ve heard several dope mixes, the Keith Sweat one that got played for me the other night is one of them. That was a great mash-up. Here is another GREAT mix from Procussions’ producer/emcee Stro Elliot. It embodies a lot of the same hand clapping head nodding elements of the original while bringing it’s own vibe and style to the track. It works so well that if it were played in a room full of people nobody would probably even notice it was a mix, they’d most likely treat it like it was the actual track. That’s pretty impressive.
Producer !llmind continues his remix tirade, pairing Biggie and Jay-Z perfectly over some extra funky Boom Trap music. Taking elements from Notorious’ “Sky’s The Limit” and Jay’s “Success” and creating a new song, most importantly he creates the same chemistry the duo shared on tracks together. You can see the two Brooklyn born emcees trading verses on stage over the beat, he mixes in Sheek Looch vocals on the hook to complete the track. It works very well . If you aren’t familiar with !llmind by now, get familiar.
With the release of Pharrell’s G I R L album today, producer extraordinaire !llmind re-imagined Pharrell’s ode to idealistic “Happy”. !llmind’s signature #BoomTrap sound adds a flare of depth to an otherwise perfect track.
20Syl is still at it, on the eve of Oxymoron dropping, the French producer remixes “The Purge” which happens to be a verse from Schoolboy’s Rapfix Cypher also. 14KT remixed, French West Indies born, Meemee Nelzy’s “James Bond Girl”. The track was originally was featured on her EP Moon Reflection. He took it from Deep House to the D. 14KT’s production is uniquely Detroit, that’s the best way to describe it. When I hear it, I conjure up visions of driving through the city at 3am, street deserted with light snow falling.
