In 2012 Cody ChesnuTT released Landing On A Hundred, in 2014 he is releasing some b-sides from the album. This little number features Bluesman Gary Clark Jr. and I would not be upset if these two decided to record a whole album together. They compliment each other perfectly. “Gunpowder On The Letter” is equal parts country, blues, rock, and soul. Or as I like to call it CountrySoul RockinBlues…..trademarked…..anyway enjoy…
The Solids are a band from Montreal who signed with Fat Possum Records in November of 2013. Through support from sites like Pitchfork, they have created a nice little buzz for themselves. Their debut album, Blame Confusion is being released on February 18th, and is available now for pre-order (links below). Xavier Germain-Poitras (guitar) and Louis Guillemette grew up on alt rock groups like Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. and it’s obvious when listening to them. Not in a bad way, but you can hear infusion of those influences in their style. Pardon the pun, but these guys are quite solid as displayed on “Haze Away” which is the first track from the album. Maybe I’m just a sucker for distortion and melancholy, i dunno….
