Asics does things a little different with their newest colorway of the GT-II, opting for some more earthy tones than the usual summer bright color schemes. Can’t say that I blame them, these are fresh and they look so buttery. Might have to track me down some of these. Wish Asics had a customization program.
Summertime versions of Nike Air Max 1 called the Breathe Collection will be available on May 1st. These are designed with new light weight materials and allow for better airflow. If you are a new comer to the Air Max 1 world, this is already one of the most comfortable shoes Nike ever produced. I highly suggest coping a pair or 10 this summer. I’m sure we could see some tier one and zero versions of these as well as some other QS.
Pharrell’s influence at Adidas is in high gear, from his bedazzled (Thanks Dart Adams) Stan Smiths worn on SNL this past weekend to this…….another Stan Smith being made available via Adidas…..and if anyone wants to argue that these are not influenced by the BBC/Ice Cream kicks, then well, whatever. Truth of the matter, they are very much in the vain of the original Ice Creams. I am not mad, I never got in to the Ice Cream kicks, but plenty of people did, although I liked the pager joints. From the 15 gallon hat (Also, thanks Dart Adams), to Happy being the song of the past year, things just keep looking up for
Skateboard P. Can we get a new N.E.R.D. album?
LA based, UNDFTD, Japan’s Neighborhood, and Adidas Consortium linked up on a few releases for this Spring and Summer. Collaborations on a Micropacer and Official Mid 80s, the two bring together style and grace. The Official Mid 80s has a clean all black suede look, completed with the unmistakable logo hits on the heals. While they make use of some high quality black leather to bring a touch of class to the Micropacer silhouette. Subdued logo hits keep the shoe subtle and in good taste. They round out the capsule with a collaborative t-shirt, available in…shocker….black and white. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The collection drops Saturday April 5th at UNDFTD and Neighborhood stores and should hit major Consortium retailers soon after.
The Nike Blazer was destined to be a skateboard shoe. And as such today, most of the best renditions of the classic silhouette are done by Nike SB. It has the typical Nike Zoom Air mid-sole and padded tongue. The screened anthracite swoosh here for example, works perfectly with the cool grey suede upper. The vulcanized sole with gum bottoms round it out. Throw in a skater friendly price tag at $85.00 you got yourself a perfect shoe for getting those winter time skateboard blues worked out. Before time runs out click on over to Premier’s Online store and cop a pair.
Just in time for summer it seems this new Ronnie Fieg designed Gel Lyte V will be dropping. Nothing says summer like ocean blue perforated leather and sand colored midsoles….
Finally the most wanted colorway of the Adidas Mutumbo signature shoe can be yours. Or rather MINE! I haven’t been a fan of the other colorways in this shoe, but I do happen to love this Denver Nugget scheme. I tried to track down a pic of him rocking them and finally I did, it’s water marked but whatever. It’s a very clean colorway, white leather with the royal blue accents and a touch of yellow and red as well as the traditional Congo style print. Nicely done Adidas, you got this one right.
Red packets are given during holidays and social gatherings in Chinese culture. They symbolize good luck and the Red Envelope is said to ward off evil spirits. With Chinese New Year approaching on January 31st, Nike releases a special Red Packet version of the Dunk Hi SB. Red suede and leather compose the upper with gold accents. The gold coin debray plays on the warding off of evil spirits as well, traditionally gold coins with red string tied through them were used to protect the elderly from sickness and even death. The outsole is clear with gold glitter tying back into the accents in the upper. Really feeling these…..
I usually don’t care too much for hybrid shoes, but what I do like are older silhouettes with new technology. This is exactly why, the Trainer SC gets beefed up in a big way for 2014. Everything has been enhanced, Hyperfuse base material, 180 air tech, and lunar support system. All this and they kept the look and feel of the original. There is no word on the official release date, but these are purchased, I’m going to have to excuse myself from my iDs only claim for 2014 for this one.
