Dee-1 calls upon the lyrical talents of Big K.R.I.T. and Lupe Fiasco for the remix to “Against Us” from 3’s Up. I wish all the good things to happen for Dee-1. He is equal parts talented and good human being. DJ Young Venom played me a mixtape of his several years back and I was a fan immediately. Here he finds himself not only holding his own against a pair of Hip-Hop vets, but shining next to them.
Comprehensive Beatdown is back with a new episode this week, our 20th! Thanks for the continued support and listens over the past several months.
This week, Bloggy Bonilla and Silent G bring you “Summertime 06” from Vince Staples, the Long Beach, California rapper’s debut album on Def Jam after a string of popular mixtapes dating back to 2011. The guys also check out new music from Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge, Statik Selektah, No Suh, and Emancipator.
Check out the podcast, as well as all the other great ones, at Dope Media Network (link below) as well as iTunes.

David Banner and Big K.R.I.T. are assisted by an U.G.K. inspired hook over a deep and aggressive beat that draws comparisons to a movie score. There is power as well as pain in the music. “My Uzi” is the lead single from Banner’s album The God Box which will be dropping this summer. Personally, this is the Banner I’ve been wanting since the Crooked Lettaz days. He is right on time with it, his voice and his message is needed now more than perhaps ever. So salute the man who put Mississippi on his back and helped pave the way for the Hip Hop scene here. Click the link below to support……
The posse cut from Long.Live.A$AP features what many consider the new wave of Hip-Hop doing what thye do best over some Hit-Boy production. The best of the young bucks in the game go in. Enjoy.
K.R.I.T. has done snapped. I need more of this on Cadillactica when it drops. Between “Mt Olympus” and “Lac Lac” this is a good direction for the next LP. I hope KRIT can finally find his proper lane, or better yet I hope more people can experience him and support his music so we continue to get it. He says a mouth full on the hook. From 1:30 on he completely blacks out…..
Big K.R.I.T. has determined that this week would be his week, everyday he’s been blessing us with a new track. Today’s gem comes in the form of a sweet and melodic track featuring A$AP Ferg, the Trap Lord, and Big Krizzle spitting over a nicely laid Bootsy Collins sample from “Munchies For Your Love”, which was also used on Scarface’s “Now I Feel Ya”. Nice Doughboy reference from K.R.I.T. as well.
Another excellent mashup/remix/edit from Big Boi’s Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors album. Seems Andre Patton is getting ready for these Outkast shows and his next album. Going to be a big year. Here we get Dre’s “Gossip” assisted by Krizzle, Bun and Chad mixed with Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla” I think I dig this one a little more than the Sade track that dropped before.
Lecrae drops his album Gravity, on Tuesday September 4th. In anticipation of the release, the latest single features a couple things which certainly already set it apart from other releases. The inclusion on Big K.R.I.T. on a DJ Khalil beat has cemented this track’s goodness for you eardrums to interpret.
