Red packets are given during holidays and social gatherings in Chinese culture. They symbolize good luck and the Red Envelope is said to ward off evil spirits. With Chinese New Year approaching on January 31st, Nike releases a special Red Packet version of the Dunk Hi SB. Red suede and leather compose the upper with gold accents. The gold coin debray plays on the warding off of evil spirits as well, traditionally gold coins with red string tied through them were used to protect the elderly from sickness and even death.
