Hiero all day. New music from the veteran and capable emcee Pep Love is always welcome. “Prayful Hurt” is mellow track which matches up to his smooth delivery quite well. No word, but I hope this means we will get a new album from the Oakland based rapper.

Hieroglyphics’ OG Casual aka Smash Rockwell aka #RapGod has released the instrumentals from his 1994 Fear Itself. Casual was the second Hiero act to release an album on Jive Records, following Souls Of Mischief’s 93 ’til Infinity. The album features production from Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Domino, Jay Biz and Casual himself. This is a must have for…..EVERYONE! Period, Hiero 4-eva.
Hieroglyphics presents for your audible pleasure, The School System, a collective of emcees reppin’ the Bay Area’s unique sound. The crew is composed of LB Select, Casual aka Smash Rockwell aka #RapGod, Izrell, and Shark Sinatra. LB, Casual, and Izrell are featured on this debut track from the album Mystery School, the video is shocking to start with to say the least. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart. The emcees’ can hold their own with anyone, and when they form together the result is audio assault on all non-believers and those who continue to think the Bay Area is nothing but hyphy music. Do some research and respect the movement.
The name A-Plus should not be new to you if you’re a hip-hop fan. Whether it’s his work with the Souls of Mischief or the Hieroglyphic crew, he is considered a veteran of the scene. He has been branching out into some different sonic plains lately, Think Tank is a return to the sound fans have come to love. This is not to say that his experimental stuff was ill received, it was not. But he is such an asset to us producing these kinds of tracks. Looking forward to what Hiero has in store for us this year.
Del took to Soundcloud under the moniker Zartan Dreadnaught Cobra to release this self produced project Iller Than Most. Del describes the album as nothing super deep, sometimes we don’t need anything super complex, we just like music. That’s what we get here, some futuristic flows over some funky spaced out boom bap. Nothing more, nothing less and that’s perfectly fine.
Pep Love of the Hieroglyphics is a rapper’s rapper
Respect Game or Expect Flames in stores real soon, August 28th to be exact. The collaborative project between J Rawls (Lone Catalyst) and Casual (Hieroglyphics) will certainly be a must have addition to any self respecting hip-hop heads catalog…….
The Hieroglyphics Crew is coming to a west coast/mid-west city near you, I recommend if you want a real dope experience, then you need to see em in Denver. Coloradans love them some Hiero crew. Here is their summer mixtape which will have to suffice most of us who can’t make it to see em. It’s a free download or you can get some stickers, t-shirt, keychain, etc with a simple donation to the cause.
