Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K. bring some funk for your summer afternoon trips to the mall, gym, Oreo cookie shake spot, or back to work after a well deserved 15 minute lunch break. “Just Another Day” is a brilliantly fun and soulful track which shall be featured on their Pencils Not Pistols:Releaded. The album is an extended version of their E.P. released just last year via Illect Recordings. The reissue will feature appearances from Sivion, Sareem Poems, and James Gardin and is sure to attempt to break a neck or two. The brilliance of the track is that I know for a fact the sun has only shined like thrice in the UK in the past quarter century, yet they capture the feeling so well. Kudos fellas, Kudos………

Imperial is not only an incredible producer and enthusiastic personal trainer, he can also put it down on the wheels of steel. Check out his HolyTape 5 mix for Holy Chill’s Youtube channel. The mix features the likes of Mr J Medeiros (The Procussions), Sareem Poems (L.A. Symphony), J-Live, Wes Pendleton, K.I.N.E.T.I.K., and other very dope selections. Can we get some more of the Sareem Poems project homie? Shout out to Illect Recordings for noticing the talent and introducing me to Imperial’s music.

Producer Imperial has linked up with visual artist Agnes & Lupus for a visions and rhymes project which Illect Recordings. The visuals and beats are accompanied by quotes from everyone from C.S. Lewis and Chuck Palakniuk to Christ. The video is dark and raw, a play on the duality of man. The project will be called Triptych, more information coming on the release as soon as we have it. I’m really digging the video, everything works really well together, the quotes, the beats, the video works in splendid harmony. So much so, you’ll need to watch it several times in a row, concentrating on each individual segment to take it all in.

What does it take to be a rapper? What kind of shape need one be in to rock the m.i.c.? Well, when you’re rapping with Imperial you must be in peak physical condition. If not, he’ll serve as the motivator you never had and possibly wanted. Enter K.I.N.E.T.I.K. who is Imperials partner in rhyme on Pencils Not Pistols, which is out now Illect Recordings. Imperial pushes his compadre to the limit, helping him achieve the goals and results which will result in nothing short of lyrical superiority. They have there tough times along the way, I mean who drop kicks cheeseburgers? Those cheeseburgers did nothing to you man, what’s up with that? And did you see the anger Imperial slapped the chicken nugget away. What’s McDonalds ever done to you? Agnes & Lupus did a great job directing the Rocky-inspired video for “Go Hard” which also features Tone Richardson on the hook. The video is fun and goofy but the message is right on point, keep pushing and all your dreams can come true.
UK producer Imperial and Sareem Poems (LA Symphony) are gearing up to release an EP together in 2014, which will be released on Illect Recordings. The first nugget from that gold mine is an ode their newly born seeds. Originally released back in March, the Sonny Rollin’s inspired instrumental was dropped by Imperial to celebrate the birth of his son. It only made since that once they decided to work together the track would get a reboot. Sareem also celebrated the birth of his first child in the past year also. A picture he eloquently paints with the verse, “I want to be the earthly father I didn’t believe in.”

Illect Records is starting 2012 off with the proverbial bang, first below I gave you a track from German producer Jaq and now this. Imperial is a producer hailing from the UK and he links up with Sivion, Sintax the Terrific, muzeONE, & JustMe. The end result has my headphones exploding right now, it could be because I’m partially deaf but mostly it’s because this beat snaps. Illect is batting a very impressive 1.000 in this new year, and it’s only just begun. I’m anxiously awaiting the rest of the year like a starving Jackal awaiting it’s next steak dinner.
On the Raw project Illect plans on releasing an instrumental based project with an alternate “Ultimate” rap version of the same tracks.
Hip hop is far removed from its days of being isolated to small pockets located in inner city America. It’s a cultural phenomenon that has impacted countries, cities, and neighborhoods the world over. Look no further than Imperial, hailing from North Wales, UK, for proof. The latest signing to Illect Recordings may have been raised far from one of innumerable hip hop hotbeds, but it didn’t stop him from learning the ropes of the genre, even if it meant honing his skills on old software installed to his computer from a floppy disc.
Imperial, who first fell in love with hip hop as a youth through the sounds of Jurassic 5, has been honing his production and turntable skills for over a decade. Just last year, he gained increased notoriety through his remixes of tracks by some of the underground elite, including Mr. J. Medeiros, The Procussions, and J-Live. Now, as the newest member of Illect’s team, Imperial is excited to take his work to the next level. “I’m really excited to represent the UK for Illect. It’s a great opportunity to work on a ruck of new music with the artistic freedom and innovation that Illect allows its artists,” says Imperial. “I’m sure there’ll be some transatlantic collaborations in the pipeline too.”
Currently residing in Cambridge, UK, Imperials love of multiple genres along with his own personal flavor shines through brightly in his past work. With a full instrumental project currently in the works and the passion and motivation to be a true innovator in the genre, there’s certainly a bright future ahead for the young producer. “I just want to produce fresh new music that makes people feel – music that people can connect with,” says Imperial. “I’ve got a real thing for hip hop’s golden era, which I like to combine with modern production. I hope this comes through in my music.”
