When Miles Garvey dropped at the end of 2014, I knew that it was going to be one of those records that stood the test of time. It would appear that Skipp would agree. When most artists are more concerned about the “NEXT” project or keeping up with what’s hot RIGHT NOW. Skipp has consistently been dropping videos to promote his album. Creating visually appealing independent pieces of work which capture the complexity of the album. The videos, just as the songs themselves, can be dissected and examined on different levels. This does however require you to watch the video several times to absorb it all. Check it out and if you have not done so already click the link below and pick up a copy of Skipp Coon’s Miles Garvey.

Skipp Coon’s Miles Garvey was one of the most important albums of 2014. I can say that with supreme confidence. On “RuRemArm” the Jackson, Mississippi native spits truth over the raw production. The video features Skipp visiting various institutions through out the Mississippi capital, claiming the streets as his pulpit with lyrics like “Pitch black, pitch crack. Bite. Claw. Scratch. Cause the pigs and the rats cooperate in the traps. Republicans, Democrats, Goldman & Sachs, keep the meat on the table, but the floor get the scraps. I’m on the floor where the poor people at, victims wear the denim, perpetrator wear the slacks. The C.C.A. got blacks on racks and Bob Barker supply the clothes on they backs. B.E.T. teaches our kids how to act, E.B.T. gets them they meals and they snacks. The I.M.F., N.Y.S.E., Nasdaq, make the world bank god, so we all pray to black” that make “RuRemArm” a scathing account of the current state of affairs within the black community. Click the link below to pick up Miles Garvey, for that you will not be sorry.
Skipp Coon, after releasing his third album Miles Garvey, has unearthed a video for a remix from an earlier project. “It Is What It Is (Spirituals Remix), is a new version of a track that can be found on Sophomore Slump Vol 1: Independent’s Day. Could this be the origin of one of Jackson’s most prolific emcees? Who’s got the jazz? This got the jazz!!
As Black Milk prepares to bring the world If There’s A Hell Below, the coldest emcee PyInfamous grabs some Synth Or Soul and announces his return from a short hiatus. On “WANW” Py brings us two minutes of straight lyrical snapping. #Jackals
If you are not up on PyInfamous, then simply click here and check out his resume, it’s quite stellar.
I stand behind the statement I made a few years ago, Coke Bumaye is the biggest rapper in his city. His resume is impeccable. He recently dropped Amerikaz Nightmare, and now he’s back with a couple new tracks on The Nightmare Continues (EP). Be sure to cop everything you see with Coke’s name on it. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. Enjoy!
Skipp Coon and Satchel Page drop more knowledge than most people pick up all week. My words can do no justice to these two on this episode, just do what I did and sit back and let them hip you to some game. Who knows, you might come out smarter and knowing a little bit more than you knew before. Watch out for the Jackals, they bite. Peace.
Jackson Jackal alumni, Coke Bumaye drops his brand new single laying his claim to the office of “Mayor” of his city, Jackson, MS. The voice of a city caught somewhere in between the equally tragic and inter-twined turmoil of racism and poverty. The voice of hope and the understanding of the hopeless. A man amongst boys who are forced into decisions reserved for the desperate and lost in a society which doesn’t care. Coke vividly paints a picture of the real Jackson, a place of beautiful decay. If you’ve never been to Jackson you wouldn’t understand. In a city where beckons of hope are either quickly put out or quietly forced out, Coke speaks for all those who can’t speak for themselves. If you haven’t done so I suggest you pick up Translation 3 now and get familiar with the brightest star in Jackson’s constellation. In a city chalked full of history and talent, Coke successfully lays his claim to the head chair at the table.
