Street Certified is the upcoming release from Brownsville’s own Lil Fame and Fizzy Womack a.k.a. M.O.P. “Broad Daylight” is from said album and features hip-hop’s Dungeon Dragon joining the dynamic duo of punch you in the face music. The result is what we would call a banger or a smash. Grab Street Certified on November 18th and if you refuse then I assume the worst about you.
The Mashed Out Posse is back with a new collaboration with another classic NYC Duo Havoc & Prodigy. “Street Certified” is a dark track which sounds like a throwback Mobb Deep song. It will appear on the forthcoming M.O.P. album coming on Nature Sounds.
Hard To Earn to this day remains my favorite Gang Starr album. I remember the day I bought it, I remember the day I saw the video for “Mass Appeal” on Video Box. I lost my mind when I first heard Premier’s now infamous loop of 3 short seconds from a Vic Juris track. Guru does what Guru did best vocally and the end result was a classic above all other classic. One of my favorite live hip-hop moments, and I have a ton of them, is seeing Gang Starr live with Freddie Foxx, Big Shug, and M.O.P. When they performed “The Militia” it was wild on stage. Freddie Foxxx drops one of the livest verses in rap music history. As a matter of fact, I might make next week Freddie Foxxx week and put up a joint from him every day. One of hip-hops unsung heroes……
