9th Wonder has assembled his Army in order to pay tribute to Kung Fu’s baddest mofo in the business. He brings together Pharoahe Monch, Jean Grae, Rapsody, Big Remo, GQ, Torae, HaLo, Thee Tom Hardy, Sean Boog, Sundown of Actual Proof, Mela Machinko and SkyZoo to spit some Dyno-MITE / Dyno-MITE tracks. Who knew that when I was traveling all around LA looking for a theater who was going to carry the movie that it would blow up like this. Black Dynamite is everywhere. He’s got comic books, cartoons, mixtapes, etc. I for one couldn’t be happier. As happy as when I finally found someone carrying the DVD when it dropped. I swear I spent $100 in gas trying to track it down. Back to the mixtape, the Jean Grae track is muy bueno as is Skyzoo’s “Cool De La”. It’s a mixtape which provides the proper back drop for getting back at The Man and his army of Kung Fu Honkeys……

Mela Machinko is a Brooklyn native and known for her family appearances on albums from Pharoahe Monch to Skyzoo. She recently put out an EP titled 9AM Blues. It is rich with soothing harmonies and hip-hopesque production handled primarily by Mr Len (Company Flow). Overall it is 8 solid tracks of exactly what one would expect from the Brooklynite. If you have not hear her before, she takes me back to the days of Les Nubians and The Jazzyfatnastees, an era I call OkaySoul. If you are unfamiliar with those artists, then get to googling.
