The Liberations EP is the second in a three part installment from Oakland hip-hop duo Zion I. Following the boom bap of Masters Of Ceremony, with more of the same. Futuristic production from Amp Live which fits Zumbi’s lyrical styling like an Isotoner glove. The project was inspired by the sudden passing of one of Zumbi’s close friends. He pays his respects on “Lateef’s Song” which features 1-O.A.K. on the hook. Other outside contributions come from the likes of Mr Lif, Sadat X, Deuce Eclipse, and Opio to name a few. 6 songs seems like it is too short and the perfect length all at once. Zumbi said this about the project “To me, libation is when you honor someone by pouring out your brew before you sip, its a sort of prayer. On this EP, I poured out some liquor for my homie, as well as my family, and myself”
