The thing about concept albums is that even when developing a character the artist still puts some of himself in there. “Broken Again” is brutal and honest, my favorite track from PTSD, Pharoahe’s latest offering via We Are Renegade, his record label. There is so much of Pharoahe in the track, he’s very transparent. Something he has excelled at through out his long and distinguished career. It translates well to the video. The melody of the chorus should seem familiar to those of us who were alive in the 80s, I will not spoil the surprise though. You got google, get busy.
Pharoahe Monch & Diamond D…..nuff said
“So when the beat intensifies/I become emotionally desensitized/like once i slapped a rapper with mace/then i spit acid in his face after he rinsed his eyes/ no wait, I actually grew 5 times my size/grabbed Mase by the thigh and slapped a rapper with him/now that’s practicing sacrilegious activism” – Pharoahe Monch
We are a week away from the release of PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, the newest LP from Pharoahe Monch. What better way to get people amped up than to release a track with everyone’s favorite late night emcee? Few people can hang lyrically with Pharoahe on a track, and the same goes for Black Thought, so it feels like it’s meant to be. They both bring their A+++ game on this Marco Polo produced funky track. Be ready for PTSD next week and remember Hip-Hop is alive and well, so support it.
9th Wonder has assembled his Army in order to pay tribute to Kung Fu’s baddest mofo in the business. He brings together Pharoahe Monch, Jean Grae, Rapsody, Big Remo, GQ, Torae, HaLo, Thee Tom Hardy, Sean Boog, Sundown of Actual Proof, Mela Machinko and SkyZoo to spit some Dyno-MITE / Dyno-MITE tracks. Who knew that when I was traveling all around LA looking for a theater who was going to carry the movie that it would blow up like this. Black Dynamite is everywhere. He’s got comic books, cartoons, mixtapes, etc. I for one couldn’t be happier. As happy as when I finally found someone carrying the DVD when it dropped. I swear I spent $100 in gas trying to track it down. Back to the mixtape, the Jean Grae track is muy bueno as is Skyzoo’s “Cool De La”. It’s a mixtape which provides the proper back drop for getting back at The Man and his army of Kung Fu Honkeys……

Ahhhh, Internal Affairs, what a great freaking album………
Talib Kweli, Kool G Rap, Rah Digga, SPorty Thievz, Mos Def, Shabaam Shadeeq, Common, Pharoahe Monch, & Posdonuos….though the song was originally recorded after the shooting death of Amadu Diallo in New York City in 1999, it’s message rings just as true today…listen and get some revolutionary bars….
I like it when artists continue to push projects, in the era of disposable music, Pharoahe Monch keeps pushing his W(e)A(re)R(enegades) project
RZA, Tech N9ne, Eminem, Xzibit, Pharoahe Monch, Kool G Rap, KRS One, Jayo Felony & Chino XL…rappity rap rap rap….They all brought it, though I could have done without Jayo….but it’s all good..Damn I miss the Wake Up Show, I can remember my first visit up to the show and while it was a shadow of it’s former self, it was still dope to be able to sit in with Sway, Tech, Carmelita and Revolution…..Hip Hop Legends without a doubt
There is very little can you can say about this song that hasn’t been said already so just enjoy some vintage Hip Hop music…
