Featured on the single for “The Blast” this is the title track from Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek’s debut collective album, which didn’t appear on the actual album. Maybe they felt like it didn’t fit sonically on the album, I don’t know but I’m glad it survived in vinyl form and with the age of the internet, it can be found anywhere. So go hunt it down and find it for yourself. It’s not too difficult I promise. Classic Hi-Tek production from a great time in hip-hop history in my opinion. I’m hoping to come up on a lot of these Rawkus singles soon……I have several but there are several more that I need.

Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek release the 8th music video from their Revolutions Per Minute album…..
I posted up some Reflection Eternal music yesterday and it made me think about this track “Respiration” from Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli) which is produced by Reflection Eternal partner DJ Hi-Tek and features Chicago rapper turned hippy turned rapper again Common. There is also a incredibly dope Pete Rock remix which features Black Thought of The Roots, in the place of Common. I’ve included that Remix below for your downloading pleasure as well as another lesser know Black Star song “Little Brother” off The Hurricane Soundtrack. The song was produced by the late and great J Dilla, though the song was never meant to get out. The story goes that Dilla made the beat for practice and Kweli got hold of like 15 seconds of it somehow on a beat tape and it was looped from there…..Ridiculous that this song could have never happened….

Reflection Eternal’s (Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek) album Train of Thought remains to this day one of my favorite hip hop albums. It’s a solid album from beginning to end, I choose to focus on the later. The album ends with the 2 strongest songs to me “Good Mourning” and “Four Women”…enjoy and now go watch some Football….It’s Sunday damnit
