The title track from Royce 5’9’s new album Layers features the likes of hip-hop heavy weights Pusha T and the false Rick Ross over some Mr Porter production. The video sees our heroes helping a crooked politician to see the neighborhood that he helps to destroy by lining his pockets. At some point, someone at sometime will be held accountable. Royce is enjoying a resurgence over the past few years and I for one am here for it. He’s always been able to spit but down people seem to be acknowledging him for it.

I hate putting stuff up like this sometimes, because I don’t want anyone thinking what Mr Ross did was cool, or a smart career choice. However, it’s good to hear someone speak on their past when they have had a chance to look back on the mistakes they have made. Rick went from a man with a drug empire to locked up initially for life, which was later reduced to 20 years and then down to 13 for being a model prisoner. He’s working on a film which will tell his life story, he claims it will be very accurate and knowing what I know about Freeway Ricky, I’m sure he’s not joking…I wonder what the CIA will think about that?
