On this week’s episode of Comprehensive Beatdown, @bloggybonilla (aka Lenny Dykstra) and Silent G (aka Spike Nolan) listen to and discuss “Sour Soul,” the new collaborative album from Ghostface Killah x BADBADNOTGOOD. They also check out new tracks from @sareem_poems & @essbemvsic and THEESatisfaction. The track for the “Shitty Tracks From Our Friends” segment this week comes from a mysterious man named Dawg, who provided a very terrible piece of music. The local track this week, “Plastic,” comes from Jackson singer-songwriter Cody Cox, who just last week released his newest solo album, “Leave a Trace” on Elegant Trainwreck/Homework Town Records.

Sareem Poems - Imperial - God Bless The Child

UK producer Imperial and Sareem Poems (LA Symphony) are gearing up to release an EP together in 2014, which will be released on Illect Recordings. The first nugget from that gold mine is an ode their newly born seeds. Originally released back in March, the Sonny Rollin’s inspired instrumental was dropped by Imperial to celebrate the birth of his son. It only made since that once they decided to work together the track would get a reboot. Sareem also celebrated the birth of his first child in the past year also. A picture he eloquently paints with the verse, “I want to be the earthly father I didn’t believe in.”

Then going by just Poems, the L.A. Symphony fam, also known as Sharlok Poems, dropped his album Blooming Sounds, a really solid project in my opinion. This single featured production and vocals from Stro Elliot of the Procussions. Classic Stro production fusing jazzy harmony with hip-hop drums, creating a beautiful feeling track. Poems rhymes effortlessly over the beat crafting his rhythmic definition of what “Love” is. Shout out to White Chedda (Tasha), Ganksta azz Sam who round out just a sample of the beautiful women who blessed the video.
