Producer Sundance is known for making some incredible remixes. He has been making music for a while now and I have been fortunate enough to have been given some exclusive looks in the past. I have always been impressed with his love for the music he makes and the professionalism he approaches his work with. On June 17th, he is dropping Midlife Marauders via Illect Recordings The album features guest artists like Theory Hazit, Just Me, Propaganda, Sivion, and others. “Choose Your Weapon” is smoothed out head nodder with verses from Sintax The Terrific and Elias. Both urge the listener to “Choose Your Weapon” when fighting with or for the world. Choose the Word of God or a worldly weapon. Only one will prosper in the end. The battle has already been won, so choose life not death.

Illect Records is starting 2012 off with the proverbial bang, first below I gave you a track from German producer Jaq and now this. Imperial is a producer hailing from the UK and he links up with Sivion, Sintax the Terrific, muzeONE, & JustMe. The end result has my headphones exploding right now, it could be because I’m partially deaf but mostly it’s because this beat snaps. Illect is batting a very impressive 1.000 in this new year, and it’s only just begun. I’m anxiously awaiting the rest of the year like a starving Jackal awaiting it’s next steak dinner.
On the Raw project Illect plans on releasing an instrumental based project with an alternate “Ultimate” rap version of the same tracks.
Hip hop is far removed from its days of being isolated to small pockets located in inner city America. It’s a cultural phenomenon that has impacted countries, cities, and neighborhoods the world over. Look no further than Imperial, hailing from North Wales, UK, for proof. The latest signing to Illect Recordings may have been raised far from one of innumerable hip hop hotbeds, but it didn’t stop him from learning the ropes of the genre, even if it meant honing his skills on old software installed to his computer from a floppy disc.
Imperial, who first fell in love with hip hop as a youth through the sounds of Jurassic 5, has been honing his production and turntable skills for over a decade. Just last year, he gained increased notoriety through his remixes of tracks by some of the underground elite, including Mr. J. Medeiros, The Procussions, and J-Live. Now, as the newest member of Illect’s team, Imperial is excited to take his work to the next level. “I’m really excited to represent the UK for Illect. It’s a great opportunity to work on a ruck of new music with the artistic freedom and innovation that Illect allows its artists,” says Imperial. “I’m sure there’ll be some transatlantic collaborations in the pipeline too.”
Currently residing in Cambridge, UK, Imperials love of multiple genres along with his own personal flavor shines through brightly in his past work. With a full instrumental project currently in the works and the passion and motivation to be a true innovator in the genre, there’s certainly a bright future ahead for the young producer. “I just want to produce fresh new music that makes people feel – music that people can connect with,” says Imperial. “I’ve got a real thing for hip hop’s golden era, which I like to combine with modern production. I hope this comes through in my music.”
