Oakland based hip-hop duo, The Coup, released their album Sorry To Bother You and like any respectable music group, they are still promoting it. This time with a video for the track “Long Island Iced Tea, Neat” which features Punk group Japanther. The song talks specifically about the Occupy Oakland experience that front man Boots Riley was a intricate part of. The director, Kelly Gallagher, pays homage to Trayvon Martin and Oscar Grant in the video displaying photos of the subsequent rallies as well as some cleverly placed skittles and arizona iced tea footage.
Ebony Magazine is doing a cover story on the death of Florida teenager, Trayvon Martin in their June 2012 issue. They called upon world renowned street artist, Shepard Fairey to provide the artwork for it. Shepard who is never one to shy away from social and political subjects, lends his familiar feel and style to the iconic image of Trayvon.
