The Liberations EP is the second in a three part installment from Oakland hip-hop duo Zion I. Following the boom bap of Masters Of Ceremony, with more of the same. Futuristic production from Amp Live which fits Zumbi’s lyrical styling like an Isotoner glove. The project was inspired by the sudden passing of one of Zumbi’s close friends. He pays his respects on “Lateef’s Song” which features 1-O.A.K. on the hook. Other outside contributions come from the likes of Mr Lif, Sadat X, Deuce Eclipse, and Opio to name a few. 6 songs seems like it is too short and the perfect length all at once. Zumbi said this about the project “To me, libation is when you honor someone by pouring out your brew before you sip, its a sort of prayer. On this EP, I poured out some liquor for my homie, as well as my family, and myself”

Next month, Zion I will be releasing their new full length album, Liberation. Before that, we get a video for “Supreme” taken from their EP, Masters Of Ceremony.
Amp Live and Zumbi are back with The Masters Of The Ceremony EP. The wet your whistle here is the video for “Dangerzone” featuring vocal assistance from 1-O.A.K. If you are not familiar with Amplive’s heavy synth style of production, it’s funky + heavy + diverse. It bounces from deep bass lines to a poppy sort of feel, then back seamlessly. Zumbi compliments Amp’s style of production perfectly. The group has steadily evolved since Mind Over Matter was released back in 2000. Embracing new styles and trends in music but owning it and making those elements their own. Allowing them to always sound fresh and familiar at the same time. Check out The Masters Of The Ceremony EP below.
Amp Live of Zion I fam is one of hip-hop’s unsung heroes. He so versatile with his production game. Here he brings along Dom, of the Hip-Hop live instrumental group Big Gigantic (Colorado stand up!!), for the ride. It’s a jazzy, electro, dub steppy ride through the mind of the Bay Area native.
Zion I emcee, Zumbi, drops a new video from Zumbi-Vs. Click here to get it I hishly recommend you pick it up…like now
Respect and love family. First off, shouts out to all the DJs who helped to make “Atomic Clock” #1 on the CMJ charts! It is a great honor, and with all the music we’ve released over the years, this is the first time that we’ve charted this high. Now that we’ve finished touring for the rest of the year, we’re going to continue to bless you with more visuals from the album. Our latest video is for “Always”. It’s a spacey journey thru minimalism and rhythm, crafted by our good homey and colleague Robyn Twomey. Peep the cut, and share share share! Also, wanted to let you know that we are doing a collective meditation on peace this coming Sunday Dec. 12th @ Noon PST. Text “44144” and send the message “Zion I” to get details. Enjoy the video, tune up and tune in..ites!

Bless up family! I hope that you’re enjoying the build up into the holiday season. To help celebrate, Zion I and our good homies Rebelution, have come together to bring you our new video for “Many Stylez”!The entire video was shot while on tour this fall. We wanted to capture the energy and feeling of a live performance. Towards that end, I think we did a good job by enlisting friends, tour managers, merch guys, and anyone else who would hold a camera to bring the action straight from the road. With that, enjoy the clip and spread the word. Big shouts out to all the people who are supporting “Atomic Clock” as well. Respect!
